For some time, serious concerns about the implementation and expansion of the Newtown Creek Aeration Program have been raised the North Brooklyn Boat Club, Newtown Creek Alliance, and Riverkeeper. The NYC DEP program carries both troublesome health risks and a huge price tag.Several private meetings with city official have had no impact. Thursday night is one of the first public meetings.
