As a participant in the New York City Water Trail Association’s Citizen Water Quality Testing Project we sample water off our dock each week from May through September. Our samples are measured for Enterrococcus, an indicator of raw sewage that often results from rainstorms and combined sewer overflow. During the summer months samples are collected Thursday mornings and delivered to labs at either The River Project at Pier 40 in Manhattan or nearby LaGuardia Community College in Queens for testing. At the conclusion of the first two seasons we have depicted the seasons results as a mural on the boatyard wall.
